THE FANTASMAGORIA PAUL BIYA FAILS TO EXTEND CONDOLENCE TO CIVILIANS, SOLDIERS AND AMBAZONIANS KILLED IN THE NW, SW
Yaoundé (National Times)-Cameroon’s President, Paul Biya, has failed to address public condolences to civilians and soldiers killed in the course of the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of the country despite vowing to restore peace in 2019.
In a state of the nation address on December 31,218, the President repeatedly admitted being in the know of the challenges in the two Regions but no mention was made of the human losses.
Biya known to be a humanist has been at the forefront of sending condolence messages in recent times to his counterparts in order countries following any mishap claiming human life.
Despite not addressing such condolences, the President is resolute towards taking action to put more verve into restoring peace.
“Paradoxically, one of the effects of the unfortunate events that have been affecting social life in the North-West and South-West Regions for months now may surprise many of us. The populations of these two Regions have noticed the sincerity of the intentions of authorities concerning the new powers delegated to local communities and the solidarity of the rest of the nation towards them. My wish is that, eventually, national unity will be strengthened,” Biya stated.
