DRC: EUROPEAN UION Requests publication of minutes of each local results compilation center CLCR
EU urges those who feel aggrieved to resort to the Constitutional Court
The European Union believes that the CENI must publish the minutes of each local results compilation center (CLCR). The EU bases its suggestion on the remarks of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) and the challenges of Martin Fayulu.
“The preliminary results are disputed by some of the opposition and national observation, particularly by the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO). It is therefore important for the credibility of the process and the sincerity of the vote that the CENI continue its work in accordance with the electoral law, including the publication of the minutes of each local center of compilation of results, “says the EU.
The EU also considers that the problems encountered during the voting did not prevent the Congolese electorate from expressing its choice clearly.
“The preliminary statements of the international and electoral electoral observation missions indicated that the poll, in spite of the difficulties encountered, had allowed the electorate to express its choice clearly on December 30th. The European Union immediately joined in the calls of the African Union Election Observation Mission and the Chairperson of the AU Commission for the official results to be in line with the vote of the Congolese people. ” she added.
In addition, the EU recommends that those who feel aggrieved resort to the Constitutional Court.
“As the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki, reminded us, any challenge to the results must be done peacefully, through the use of procedures and political dialogue between all stakeholders, to enable the democratic process to be completed, “said the EU.
