BEWARE!!!…BUEA IS A NO LONGER HOSPITABLE, EKAMA PATRICK TELLS POPULATION
The Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick Esunge, says the town of Buea is no longer hospitable and should not be described as the city of Legendary Hospitality.
Talking to the Press on Saturday, January 5, 2019, the Mayor said the on-going Crisis which has resulted to killings, kidnappings, and destruction of properties has destroyed the hospitable nature of the city thus it is no longer safe.
“We have been having persistent civilian attacks by groups of armed secessionists and so the military is out to neutralise the encroaching activities of these armed men. It is not news to the people of Buea that even traditional authorities were kidnapped…
“People say the city has been militarised, the military is here to defend the integrity of the nation and to defend the national colours. It is time to invite our brothers and sisters who are hiding in the bushes with arms to come back home and look for better avenues to what they termed as problems,” he added.
According to the Mayor, the current state of Buea cannot be seen as hospitable thus the name should be rebranded as the city of excellence.
“Buea has been known for its excellence and the people of Buea do excellent things. We peg the excellence in the domain of academics such as Sasse College, Bilingual Grammar School which was moved from Man O’ Bay to Molyko in 1963. We also talk about the excellent culture of the people, touristic attraction. Everything that surrounds Buea goes with excellence and so we cannot talk about hospitality when some people are in the bushes with guns and weapons,” Patrick Ekema reiterated.
According to him, the people of Buea should inculcate the values of excellence which was the original values of Buea.
