CAMEROON DAILY JOURNAL|At least 13 religious sisters were abducted in Bamessing, northwestern Cameroon, before being released later, sources confirmed.
Indeed, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 15 when a group of nuns of Saint Francis traveling from Bamenda to Kumbo was abducted by strangers around Bamessing, confirmed a source from the diocese of Kumbo. The abducted group of 3 sisters and 13 novices spent the rest of the day and night with their captors while negotiations for their release continued, the source added.
They were not released until Friday, November 16, the next morning, before continuing their journey to Shisong, Kumbo. It is unclear, however, whether a ransom was paid for their release.
